Dr. Sanders received her undergraduate degree from New York University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, as one of the top students in her class. She continued her education at SUNY Downstate where she was awarded her Doctorate of Medicine in 2003.

She then completed her internal medicine residency at North Shore University Hospital, which at that time was ranked #1 hospital in America by AARP magazine. During her residency Dr. Sanders participated in research of injury and treatment practices in orchestral musicians.

She then underwent her rheumatology specialty training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, where she continued her research in autoimmune field, specifically murine lupus model, which was published in Journal of Neuroimmunology.

Dr. Sanders is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society and a Fellow of American College of Rheumatology.
